Job Title: Part-Time Music Instructor

Location: Northwoods Forest School, Pine River, MN
​
About Us: Northwoods Forest School is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a holistic and nature-based education to children aged 5 to 18. Our curriculum integrates forest school principles and Waldorf-inspired activities, fostering a love for nature, creativity, and overall development.

Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable and passionate Music Instructor to join our team on a part-time basis. The instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging and educational music classes to students every Tuesday for 2 hours from September through May. This role requires a basic understanding of our educational philosophy and the ability to inspire a love for music in children of various ages. Applicant must be willing to submit a background screening.

Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver music lessons for students aged 5 to 18 (up to 30 students total of varying ages)
-
Incorporate Waldorf-inspired and nature-themed elements when possible
-
Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment
-
Prepare students for seasonal performances and events
-
Collaborate with the Director/Lead Teacher to align music activities with the overall curriculum
-
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff

Qualifications:

Experienced musician or adept in general use of instruments
-
Experience teaching music to children, preferably in a Waldorf or nature-based educational setting
-
Strong knowledge of various musical instruments and vocal techniques
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Reliability and punctuality
-
Enthusiasm for working with children and a passion for music education

The instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging and educational yoga classes to students once a week on Mondays for 2 hours from March through May. This role requires a basic understanding of our educational philosophy and the ability to inspire a love for yoga and mindfulness in children of various ages. NATURE GUIDE​
Job Title: Part-Time Assistant Nature Guide

About Us: Northwoods Forest School is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a holistic and nature-based education to children aged 5 to 18. Our curriculum integrates forest school principles and Waldorf-inspired activities, fostering a love for nature, creativity, and overall development.
Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable and passionate Nature Guide to join our team on a part-time basis. The Nature Guide will be responsible for leading and facilitating outdoor educational activities, guiding students in nature exploration, and supporting our forest school curriculum. This role requires a commitment to our educational philosophy and the ability to inspire a love for the outdoors in children of various ages. The Nature Guide must be trained on all our policies and safety standards, and complete additional training such as MinistrySafe (or similar) and First Aid. Applicants must be willing to undergo a background screening.

Responsibilities:

Deliver outdoor educational activities for students aged 5 to 18

Guide nature walks, forest exploration, and environmental education sessions

Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment

Collaborate with the Director/Lead Teacher to align nature activities with the overall curriculum

Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during outdoor activities
-
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff

Qualifications:
-
Experience in environmental education, outdoor education, or a related field is preferred but not required
-
Knowledge of local flora and fauna, and outdoor survival skills is a plus but again, not mandatory
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Reliability and punctuality
-
Enthusiasm for working with children and a passion for nature education
-
First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
