Guest Instructor or Volunteer Guide
We all have some sort of interest that has allowed us to become very knowledgeable about that subject. We find some students learn best from those that have the ability to pass along wisdom to the younger generations.
We are very pleased that you are interesting in sharing of yourself and your insight to our students!
Whether you are a skilled naturalist, yoga instructor, painter, artist, writer/storyteller, herbalist, knitter, sewing pro, gardener- we would love to hear what you would like to share with our school community!
All Guest/Volunteer Guides must have a background check, references, interview and Northwoods Guide & Policy training.
Details
Once you have been brought on board, here is what to expect!
Scheduling
Your skill or presentation is reviewed; and we look at what part of our curriculum it will tie into the best. Then you will be asked if a number of dates/times work for you. You can pick the ones that work the best and are scheduled then for those dates.
Content
Based on our mixed-ages, some adjustments or additions may be necessary for academic levels or material, and the full-time staff will be available to help you go over the lesson and materials needed, to cover all abilities, to make sure we can have a rich and inclusive lesson.
Payment
If you are volunteering, then we want to honor your kindness- we host a volunteer appreciation event yearly and you will receive information on that as it approaches.
For others, payment is negotiated at time of application and payment is sent out after completed scheduled presentation.
Opportunities
If you loved being immersed in nature and want to explore part-time or full-time opportunities, we are always looking to add the right person to our team!
After volunteering/presenting - ask for a full-time application, and we can get you started!
